EGOT winners (1)


The EGOT is an acronym referring to the Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony awards. People who have won all four have achieved major success across the American entertainment industry.

A term coined by Philip Michael Thomas (best known as Tubbs from the 1980's TV show Miami Vice, it has reached broader awareness after factoring into a number of plots on the TV show 30 Rock)

Here now is the list of EGOT winners, in chronological order:


1. Richard Charles Rodgers (June 28, 1902 – December 31, 1979)
was an American composer of music for more than 900 songs and for 43 Broadway musicals.
He also composed music for films and television.

He is best known for his songwriting partnerships with the lyricists Lorenz Hart and Oscar Hammerstein II.
His compositions have had a significant impact on popular music down to the present day, and have an enduring broad appeal.

Emmy ('Winston Churchill: The Valiant Years,' 1962),
Grammy ('The Sound of Music,' 1960),
Oscar ('It Might as Well be Spring' from 'State Fair,' 1945),
Tony ('South Pacific,' 1950).
